(See also "Difficult auto focus conditions" (p.66).) Focusing range • T (telephoto) side: Approx. 3.2 feet (1 m) from the lens surface to infinity. • W (wide-angle) side: Approx. 13/16″ (2 cm) from the lens surface to infinity. How to focus manually During recording pause or recording, press FOCUS. The Focus icon appears in the LCD monitor. 1 Manual focus icon • Focusing switches between Manual Focus and Auto Focus each time the FOCUS button is pressed. The icon is displayed only during manual focusing. Push the zoom lever toward the T 2 (telephoto) side to magnify the subject. Adjust the focus by pressing &/ %. • When the power is turned off, the camcorder returns to auto focus. 3 • To manually adjust the focus, always magnify the subject as in step 2. When the focus is adjusted for wide-angle zooming, the focus may become blurred if you switch to telephoto zooming. Hint If you wish to adjust exposure while focusing manually, press EXPOSURE. The exposure bar lights in orange. To return to manual focusing, press FOCUS. 65
