SCSI backplane Complete the following steps to remove the SCSI backplane. This component contains an "HDD BACKPLN" label. Note: v Read "Installation guidelines" on page 29. v Read the safety notices at "Safety information" on page 107. v Read "Handling static-sensitive devices" on page 30. 1. Turn off the server. 2. Disconnect all power cords and external cables from the back of the server. 3. Remove the server from the rack. 4. Pull out the hard disk drives. 5. Remove the server cover (see "Removing the cover and bezel" on page 32). 6. Disconnect the cables from the SCSI backplane. Retention notches Retention tabs 7. Gently pull up on the backplane until it is released from the server at the notches; then, pull the backplane out of the server. 1.
Turn
off
the
server.
2.
Disconnect
all
power
cords
and
external
cables
from
the
back
of
the
server.
3.
Remove
the
server
from
the
rack.
4.
Pull
out
the
hard
disk
drives.
5.
Remove
the
server
cover
(see
“Removing
the
cover
and
bezel”
on
page
32).
6.
Disconnect
the
cables
from
the
SCSI
backplane.
Retention tabs
Retention
notches
7.
Gently
pull
up
on
the
backplane
until
it
is
released
from
the
server
at
the
notches;
then,
pull
the
backplane
out
of
the
server.
To
replace
the
SCSI
backplane,
reverse
the
previous
steps,
making
sure
to
align
the
tabs
and
notches.
