4.1 To begin operation 4 4.1.4 Connection and settings of network cable To send image data over the network, such as the Internet Fax and PC-FAX (in network connection) functions, connection and settings of the network cable are required. Connection of network cable Connect a UTP cable (category 5 or later recommended) connected to the network to the Ethernet connector on the machine. It supports 1000Base-T, 100Base-TX, and 10Base-T standards. In addition, TCP/IP (LPD/LPR, IPP), Web services, IPX/SPX (NetWare), AppleTalk (EtherTalk) protocols are supported. Network settings An IP address must be assigned to the machine and settings, such as the SMTP server, must be specified in order to use the machine on the network. For the detailed procedure, refer to the [User's Guide Administrator Operations]. Specifying an E-mail address for this machine An E-mail address must be registered to this machine to use the Internet Fax function. This E-mail address is used for sending/receiving data. It is recommended that the E-mail address registered for the administrator be used. If the E-mail address registered for this machine is not specified, the From address must be entered for each Internet Fax transmission. Note that Internet Fax transmissions are not possible if a From address is not entered.
