Using printer menus Serial Use this menu selection to change printer settings affecting jobs sent to the printer through an optional serial port. Menu selection PCL SmartSwitch Purpose Values Configures the printer so it On* automatically switches to PCL emulation when a print job Off received through the serial port requires it, regardless of the default printer language. PS SmartSwitch Configures the printer so it On* automatically switches to PostScript emulation when a Off print job received through the serial port requires it, regardless of the default printer language. NPA Mode Serial Buffer Specifies whether the printer performs the special processing required for bidirectional communication, following the conventions defined in the Network Printing Alliance (NPA) Protocol.
