Note: The volume of the subwoofer tends to sound lower than it actually is, you may need to raise its level after testing the sound with actual soundtracks. In AUTO mode The receiver will automatically cycle through the speakers emitting a test tone from each one. It will continue to do this until you press ENTER to signify you have finished your adjustments. It will again take a moment as the MASTER VOLUME returns to its original position. In MANUAL mode 1 Press ENTER 2 Press the 5¥∞ buttons to adjust the level of the speaker outputting the TEST TONE. 3 Press ENTER again to input the information and move to the next channel. 4 Repeat 1, 2 and 3 for each speaker. 5 When you're finsished select EXIT. it will again take a moment as the MASTER VOLUME returns to its original position. If you are using a Sound Pressure Level (SPL) meter Take the readings from your main listening position and adjust the level of each speaker to 75 dB SPL (C-weighted/slow mode). 5 Press ENTER to go to the "Crossover Network" setup menu. If you want to change a setting before proceeding use the 5¥∞ buttons (or MULTI JOG dial) to go back. memo When sounding the TEST TONE for the SURROUND BACK speakers you must use the external amplifier you hooked up with your SURROUND BACK (see p.19, 21) so the amplfier must be on and have the volume turned up. It is possible to set channels levels independently for 2/dts, STEREO, MULTI CHANNEL IN and each DSP mode for listening-once purposes (see p.44 ) but if you do so these levels will remain in 2 Surround/dts setup mode unless put back to zero. They will show up the display in step 3. 37

Initial Setup

Adjust speaker levels so that you hear the
test tone at the same volume from each
speaker when seated in your main listening
position.
Note: The volume of the subwoofer tends to sound lower than
it actually is, you may need to raise its level after testing the
sound with actual soundtracks.
In AUTO mode
The receiver will automatically cycle through the speakers
