PLAYBACK ■ Downmixing to 2 channels You can enjoy 2-channel stereo playback from multichannel sources. Rotate PROGRAM (or press STEREO on the remote control) to select 2ch Stereo. Front panel Remote control 2ch Stereo Note You can use a subwoofer with this program when SWFR or Both is selected in Bass Out. ■ Listening to unprocessed input signals In STRAIGHT mode, two channel stereo sources are output from only the front left and right speakers. Multichannel sources are decoded straight into the appropriate channels without any additional effect processing. Press STRAIGHT (EFFECT) to select STRAIGHT. For example, you can enjoy listening to classical music while having beautiful scenery from the video source on the video monitor. Use the input selector buttons to select a video source, then select an audio source. Press STRAIGHT/EFFECT again so that "STRAIGHT" disappears from the display when you want to turn the sound effect back on. ■ Virtual CINEMA DSP Virtual CINEMA DSP allows you to enjoy the CINEMA DSP programs without surround speakers. It creates virtual speakers to reproduce a natural sound field. If you set Surround to None, Virtual CINEMA DSP activates automatically whenever you select a CINEMA DSP sound field program. Note Virtual CINEMA DSP will not activate, even when Surround is set to "None" (see page 59) in the following cases: - When MULTI CH INPUT is selected as the input source. - When headphones are connected to the PHONES jack. 38

Downmixing to 2 channels
You can enjoy 2-channel stereo playback from multi-
channel sources.
Rotate PROGRAM (or press STEREO on the
remote control) to select 2ch Stereo.
You can use a subwoofer with this program when SWFR or Both
is selected in Bass Out.
Listening to unprocessed input signals
In STRAIGHT mode, two channel stereo sources are
output from only the front left and right speakers. Multi-
channel sources are decoded straight into the appropriate
channels without any additional effect processing.
Press STRAIGHT (EFFECT) to select STRAIGHT.
Press STRAIGHT/EFFECT again so that “STRAIGHT”
disappears from the display when you want to turn the
sound effect back on.
Virtual CINEMA DSP
Virtual CINEMA DSP allows you to enjoy the CINEMA
DSP programs without surround speakers. It creates
virtual speakers to reproduce a natural sound field.
If you set Surround to None, Virtual CINEMA DSP
activates automatically whenever you select a CINEMA
DSP sound field program.
Virtual CINEMA DSP will not activate, even when Surround is
set to “None” (see page 59) in the following cases:
– When MULTI CH INPUT is selected as the input source.
– When headphones are connected to the PHONES jack.
