Paper Jam, Skew and Staple Detection Processing When a paper jam, skew, or staple is detected, any documents remaining in the Eject Tray and scanner must be removed. CAUTION • Be careful removing any documents remaining inside the scanner. Otherwise, documents could be damaged or unexpected injury from paper cuts may occur. • Remove all documents remaining inside the scanner. Any torn paper remaining inside may cause paper jams or breakdowns. 1 Remove any documents that have been left in the Eject Tray. 2 Open the upper unit smoothly. (See p. 106) CAUTION When opening and closing the upper unit, be careful not to get your fingers caught, as this may result in personal injury. 3 If any documents remain inside the scanner, remove them. IMPORTANT • With the upper unit slightly opened, remove any document that is partially ejected on the Eject Tray. • Open the upper unit to the point where it stops, and remove the document remaining inside the scanner. 4 Smoothly close the upper unit. Further, press both ends of the upper unit to verify that it is securely closed. (See p. 107) 5 Check the last saved image, and try scanning again. Return the document removed from inside the scanner to the top of the stack in the input tray, and press the Start key to resume scanning. IMPORTANT • Scanned images may not be saved even for documents ejected onto the Eject Tray. Be sure to check the last scanned image saved before scanning again. • If a skewed document was detected, reload it straightly and scan again. • If a staple was detected, remove the staple, reload the document, and scan again. 137

When a paper jam, skew, or staple is detected, any documents
remaining in the Eject Tray and scanner must be removed.

Otherwise, documents could be damaged or unexpected injury

• Remove all documents remaining inside the scanner. Any torn
paper remaining inside may cause paper jams or breakdowns.

Remove any documents that have been left in the Eject

Open the upper unit smoothly.
