Document Feed Tray Extension/Wire Extend as needed to fit the document length. Adjusting the Document Guides The document guides normally extend the same distance left and right from the center of the feed tray, so that documents are centered at the feeder inlet. However, each document guide has a lock lever, so you can position documents nearer the left or right side of the feeder inlet by locking the document guides at the appropriate positions. Gently open the extension wire. Loading Documents at the Left Side This procedure shows how to load documents at the left side of the feeder. 1 Spread the document guides all the way to the left and right. Hint Use the extension wire if the document length exceeds that of the Document Feed Tray Extension. 39

Document Feed Tray Extension/Wire
Extend as needed to fit the document length.

Use the extension wire if the document length exceeds that of the
Document Feed Tray Extension.
