Wireless Configuring the Wireless Distribution System 4 If you select None as your preferred WDS encryption option, you will not be asked to fill in any more fields on the WDS page. All data transferred between the two access points on the WDS link will be unencrypted. NOTE To disable a WDS link, you must remove the value configured in the Remote Address field. WEP on WDS Links Table 21 describes the additional fields that appear when you select WEP as the encryption type. Table 21 WEP on WDS Links Field Encryption WEP Key Length Description WEP Select this option if you want to set WEP encryption on the WDS link. If WEP is enabled, specify the length of the WEP key: 64 bits Key Type 128 bits If WEP is enabled, specify the WEP key type: ASCII Characters Required WEP Key Hex The number of characters required in the WEP key. The field updates automatically based on how you set Key Length and Key Type. Enter a string of characters. If you selected ASCII, enter any combination of 0-9, a-z, and A-Z. If you selected HEX, enter hexadecimal digits (any combination of 0-9 and a-f or A-F). These are the RC4 encryption keys shared with the stations using the access point.
