FIPS This section describes symptoms with associated causes and recommended actions for problems related to FIPS. Symptom Probable cause and recommended action When FIPS is turned on, the switch constantly reboots. When FIPS is turned on, the switch runs conditional tests each time it is rebooted. These tests run random number generators and are executed to verify the randomness of the random number generator. The conditional tests are executed each time prior to using the random number provided by the random number generator. The results of all self-tests, for both power-up and conditional, are recorded in the system log or are output to the local console. This includes logging both passing and failing results. If the tests fail on your switch, it constantly reboots. Because boot PROM access is disabled, you are not able to exit out of the reboot.
