Any other paper types of documents can be scanned through the Flatbed. Document Thickness Paper thickness is expressed by "paper weight." The following shows the paper weights that can be used on this scanner: q 41 g/m2 to 210 g/m2 Only paper weight of 127 g/m2 to 210 g/m2 is acceptable for A8-size documents. Precautions The following documents may not be scanned successfully: q Documents of non-uniform thickness (e.g. envelopes and photo-attached documents) q Wrinkled or curled documents (See HINT below.) q Folded or torn documents q Tracing paper q Coated paper q Carbon paper q Photosensitive paper q Perforated documents q Documents that are not square or rectangular q Very thin documents q Photographs Do not use the following documents: q Paper-clipped or stapled documents q Documents on which the ink is still wet q Documents smaller than A8 in size q Documents wider than A4 or Letter size (216 mm) q Documents other than paper such as fabric, metal foil, or transparencies q Important documents such as certificates and cash vouchers that must not get scratched or become smeared HINT q When scanning semi-transparent documents, slide the [Brightness] bar to light to avoid bleed through. q To prevent the rollers from becoming dirty, avoid scanning documents containing large areas written or filled in pencil.
