Paper path troubleshooting Jams Jam error messages appear if paper fails to arrive at or clear the paper path sensors in the allowed time. Dedicated paper sensors (PS2, PS7, PS3101, PS3103, and PS3104) detect whether paper is present in the sensor and if the paper is fed normally (see Figure 7-3). When the control board detects a jam, it immediately stops the printing process and displays the appropriate jam message for the sensor that detects the jam. 5 1 4 2 3 Figure 7-3 Jam sensors (shown with the optional 500-sheet paper feeder and duplex unit installed) 1 Registration paper sensor (PS2) 2 Duplex paper-pick sensor (PS3104) 3 Duplex pick-up sensor (PS3103) 4 Reversed paper sensor (PS3101) 5 Delivery paper sensor (PS7) C7085-90921 Chapter 7 Troubleshooting 237
