Initiating Hibernation Hibernation saves all information in memory to a Hibernation file on the hard drive and shuts down the computer. When you turn on the computer again, your information returns to the screen at the point where Hibernation was initiated. NOTE: Hibernation is not available when the computer is docked in the optional ArmadaStation or Armada MiniStation. The factory-default setting initiates Hibernation only during a critical low-battery condition. If you change the setting on the Hibernation tab in Power Properties to Suspend or to a timeout, that setting is in addition to the low-battery setting. You can manually initiate Hibernation by pressing Fn and the suspend button. When Hibernation is initiated, the system beeps twice, the screen blanks while the Hibernation file is being saved, then power is automatically turned off to the system. Because the computer is off, there is no limit to the amount of time it can remain in Hibernation. Hibernation can be used in the following ways: s As a safeguard to automatically save information when the computer reaches a critical low-battery condition. s As a bookmark to save your place for longer periods than can be done in Suspend. s To save power by turning off the computer after a specified period of time in Suspend. If the battery pack does not have enough charge to exit Hibernation when you turn on the computer, insert a fully charged battery pack or connect an external power source. Initiating Hibernation
Hibernation saves all information in memory to a Hibernation file
on the hard drive and shuts down the computer. When you turn on
the computer again, your information returns to the screen at the

NOTE:
Hibernation is not available when the computer is docked in
the optional ArmadaStation or Armada MiniStation.
