2 How to Create a Deployment Database Installing HP ConfigTailor Installing HP ConfigTailor Any PC can act as the deployment database server providing that it meets the following criteria: • It is running under Windows NT 4.0. • It is accessible by the client PC Workstations via a NetBEUI network. • Adequate hard disk space is available (a minimum of 800 MB free disk space is recommended). • You must be logged directly onto the PC under Windows NT with administrator privileges. You will be required to perform tasks (such as Sharing folders) which must be done locally. During the installation of HP ConfigTailor on the PC you have chosen to act as the server, you will also install the elements necessary to create a deployment database. A deployment database allows you to store the essential elements of a common working environment on an accessible server to enable easy installation onto client PC Workstations. A deployment database can contain: • Up to six Windows NT 4.0 operating system language versions: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Japanese. • Device drivers (for LAN cards or display adapters, for example) for one or more HP Kayak PC workstation platforms. • HP-specific software, such as HP TopTools or HP Lock. • HP-supplied licensed applications supplied on the CD-ROM (such as Netscape® Communicator). 8 English
