Chapter 1 Setting Up the HP Server 11) Run DiagTools (Optional) 12) If necessary, Flash the BIOS 13) Install the desired NOS 14) Install the respective NOS drivers • To verify the HP Server's hardware integrity and ensure the Server is fully functional you may boot the HP Server in DOS with the Startup CD-ROM installed to run HP DiagTools, and follow the screen instructions to run the Basic Test. • View and then save the Support Ticket, as this will contain an inventory of your hardware. • Refer to Chapter 8, "Configuring the HP Server", or the HP Server tc2100 NOS Installation Guide for instructions. • If you need to flash the BIOS, do so now before installing the NOS on the HP Server. • To get the latest BIOS for the HP Server tc2100 download the most current BIOS from the HP web site at: http:\\www.hp.com • The Startup CD-ROM has a flash utility you can use to upgrade the BIOS, or backup your BIOS configuration, in case the CMOS becomes corrupted later on. • Refer to the HP Server tc2100 NOS Installation Guide for more information. • Locate and read the desired NOS installation topic in the HP Server tc2100 NOS Installation Guide before installing the desired NOS. • The NOS Installation Guide provides the instructions for installing all the supported NOSs. • The NOS drivers are normally installed from the diskettes you create, but the Startup CDROM has a link you can use to automatically install the NOS drivers for Windows NT Server or Windows 2000 Server. • Refer to the Welcome menu on the Startup CD-ROM or the HP Server tc2100 NOS Installation Guide for more information. 6

11) Run DiagTools (Optional)
To verify the HP Server’s hardware integrity
and ensure the Server is fully functional you
may boot the HP Server in DOS with the
Startup CD-ROM installed to run HP
DiagTools, and follow the screen instructions
to run the Basic Test.
View and then save the Support Ticket,
as this
will contain an inventory of your hardware.

Installation Guide
for instructions.
12) If necessary, Flash the
BIOS
If you need to flash the BIOS, do so now before
installing the NOS on the HP Server.
To get the latest BIOS for the HP Server tc2100
download the most current BIOS from the HP
web site at:
http:\\www.hp.com
The Startup CD-ROM has a flash utility you
can use to upgrade the BIOS, or backup your
BIOS configuration, in case the CMOS
becomes corrupted later on.

13) Install the desired NOS
Locate and read the desired NOS installation
topic in the
HP Server tc2100 NOS Installation
Guide
before installing the desired NOS.
The NOS Installation Guide provides the
instructions for installing all the supported
NOSs.
14) Install the respective NOS
drivers
The NOS drivers are normally installed from
the diskettes you create, but the Startup CD-
ROM has a link you can use to automatically
install the NOS drivers for Windows NT Server
or Windows 2000 Server.
