Installing a Second Hard Disk Drive The first hard disk drive (IDE or SCSI) is always mounted in the bottom (shelf 6) of the hard disk drive cage (also drive cage) and the second hard disk drive should be mounted just above it (shelf 5) in the drive cage. 1.
