Clearing the CMOS Configuration You may need to clear the CMOS memory if the BIOS configuration has been corrupted, or if incorrect settings made in the Setup Utility have caused error messages to be unreadable. To clear the configuration: 1. Turn off power to the Server and remove the side cover. 2. Move jumper from its Normal position (Pins 1 & 2) on the system board to the Clear CMOS position (Pins 2 & 3). See Figures 9-1 and 9-2. 3. Turn on power to the Server. A message displays indicating the configuration has been cleared. 4. Turn off power to the Server. 5. Return the jumper on the system board to the Normal position (Pins 1 & 2). 6. Replace the side cover. 7. Turn on power to the Server and the following message displays: Incorrect System Configuration 8. Press to run the Setup Utility when appears. 9. Make any configuration changes required. 10. Choose the Exit option and save the changes to save the configuration and exit the Setup Utility. 77

Clearing the CMOS Configuration
You may need to clear the CMOS memory if the BIOS configuration has been
corrupted, or if incorrect settings made in the Setup Utility have caused error
messages to be unreadable.
To clear the configuration:
1. Turn off power to the Server and remove the side cover.
2. Move jumper from its Normal position (Pins 1 & 2) on the system board to
the Clear CMOS position (Pins 2 & 3). See Figures 9-1 and 9-2.
3. Turn on power to the Server.
A message displays indicating the configuration has been cleared.
4. Turn off power to the Server.
5. Return the jumper on the system board to the Normal position (Pins 1 & 2).
6. Replace the side cover.
7. Turn on power to the Server and the following message displays:
Incorrect System Configuration
8. Press
<F2>
to run the Setup Utility when
<
F2=Setup

appears.
9. Make any configuration changes required.
10. Choose the Exit option and save the changes to save the configuration and exit
the Setup Utility.
