2 Software Setup Installing and Customizing the Operating System and Software This section discusses the configuration of the software and operating system for your workstation. This section covers the following: ■ "Windows-preinstalled Workstations" ■ "Linux-preinstalled Workstations" ■ "Linux-enabled Workstations" CAUTION: Do not add optional hardware or third-party devices to the workstation until the operating system is successfully installed. Doing so may cause errors and prevent the operating system from installing correctly. Windows-preinstalled Workstations If your unit is a Windows-preinstalled workstation, follow the instructions in this section to setup up your OS and software. Starting up the Operating System The first time you turn on the workstation, the operating system is installed automatically. This process takes about 5 to 10 minutes.
