4. Verify that the final cabling is like Figure 3-6 on page 69. 5. Connect the Remote Supervisor Adapter Ethernet connector on each server to your out-of-band management network (so the Remote Supervisor Adapters can also be accessed for remote management). This connection is needed so that the Remote Supervisor Adapters can communicate and manage scalable partitions. 3.2.2 Remote Expansion Enclosure connectivity The RXE-100 can be connected to the x455 to provide an additional six or 12 PCI-X slots to the server. Only one RXE-100 can be connected to the x455, although this can be with either one or two data cables. The RXE-100 has six 133 MHz 64-bit PCI-X slots as standard and can accept adapters with speeds ranging from 33 MHz to 133 MHz. With the optional six-slot expansion kit (part number 31P5998) installed, the RXE-100 has 12 slots. Each set of six adapter slots is divided into three buses of two slots each, as shown in Figure 3-7. Note: As described in "Connecting the RXE-100" on page 71, when connecting the RXE-100 to an x455 configuration using only one cable, the RXE-100 can have six or 12 PCI-X slots. 4.
Verify that the final cabling is like Figure 3-6 on page 69.
5.
Connect the Remote Supervisor Adapter Ethernet connector on each server
to your out-of-band management network (so the Remote Supervisor
Adapters can also be accessed for remote management). This connection is
needed so that the Remote Supervisor Adapters can communicate and
manage scalable partitions.
3.2.2
Remote Expansion Enclosure connectivity
The RXE-100 can be connected to the x455 to provide an additional six or 12
PCI-X slots to the server. Only one RXE-100 can be connected to the x455,
although this can be with either one or two data cables.
The RXE-100 has six 133 MHz 64-bit PCI-X slots as standard and can accept
adapters with speeds ranging from 33 MHz to 133 MHz. With the optional six-slot
expansion kit (part number 31P5998) installed, the RXE-100 has 12 slots. Each
set of six adapter slots is divided into three buses of two slots each, as shown in
Figure 3-7.

Note:
As described in “Connecting the RXE-100” on page 71, when
connecting the RXE-100 to an x455 configuration using only one cable, the
RXE-100 can have six or 12 PCI-X slots.
