the Fibre Channel storage market. A typical usage of the FAStT600 is a two-node cluster directly attached to it. It can support up to 14 internal Fibre Channel disk drives. The FAStT600 features dual 2 Gbps hot-swappable RAID controllers; supports RAID levels such as 1, 3, 5, and 10; and supports global hot spares. The FAStT600 has four host ports, two for each controller; this enables a cluster solution without the use of a switch. There are two models, FASt600 Base and FAStT600 Turbo. To understand the differences see Table 3-8. The FAStT700 is a 4U rack-mountable Fibre Channel RAID controller device with higher performance controllers. These controllers are 2 Gbps and connect via mini-hubs to the new FAStT FC-2 Host Bus Adapter (HBA) and the 2109 F16 Fibre Channel switch to give full 2 Gbps fabric. The FAStT700 attaches to up to 220 FC disks via 22 EXP500 expansion units or up to 224 FC disks via 16 EXP700 expansion units to provide scalability for easy growth (18 GB up to 32.6 TB using 146.8 GB drives). To avoid single points of failure, it also features dual hot-swappable RAID controllers, dual redundant FC disk loops, write cache mirroring, redundant hot-swappable power supplies, fans, and dual AC line cords. 82 IBM xSeries 455 Planning and Installation Guide Eserver
