Installing and Removing the PCIe* Riser Assembly Caution: The PCIe* riser assembly is NOT hot-swappable. Before removing or replacing the PCIe* riser assembly, you must first take the server out of service, turn off all peripheral devices connected to the system, turn off the system by pressing the power button, and unplug the AC power cord from the system or wall outlet. Removing the PCIe* Riser Assembly To remove the PCIe* riser assembly, use the following instructions. 1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See "Safety Information" on page iii. 2. Power down the server and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable. 3. Remove the server system cover. For instructions, see "Removing the Server System Cover" on page 30. 4. Disconnect any cables attached to any add-in cards. 5. Lift riser assembly up to remove it. Use caution to gently ease the riser card from the add-in card slot so you do not damage the slot or the riser card. See Figure 50. A B AF003259 Figure 50. Installing and Removing the PCIe* Riser
Assembly
Caution:
The PCIe* riser assembly is NOT hot-swappable. Before removing or replacing the PCIe*
riser assembly, you must first take the server out of service, turn off all peripheral devices

Removing the PCIe* Riser Assembly
To remove the PCIe* riser assembly, use the following instructions.
1.

Remove the server system cover. For instructions, see

4.
