c. Do not drop anything onto the microprocessor socket while it is exposed. The socket pins must be kept as clean as possible. 16. Holding the microprocessor with your fingers, position the microprocessor so that the small triangle 1 is aligned with the corresponding triangle on the socket in the new system board. 17. Lower the microprocessor straight down into the socket. 18. To secure the microprocessor in the socket, close the microprocessor retainer and lock it into position with the small handle. 19. Install the heat sink and fan assembly on the new system board. 20. Reconnect the heat sink and fan assembly cable to the system board. See the system board illustration for your machine type at "Locating parts on the system board" on page 87. 21. Install the new system board into the chassis and align the screw holes with those in the chassis. Insert and tighten the screws the were removed previously. 22. Reconnect all disconnected cables to the system board. 23. Reinstall the hard disk drive. See "Replacing the hard disk drive" on page 112. 24. Align the drive bay assembly with the two slots and rails on the sides of the chassis, reconnect the drive cables on the system board, and then slide the drive bay assembly towards the rear of the chassis until it snaps into position. 25. Reinstall the front bezel. 26. Reinstall any PCI adapter cards that were removed. 27. Position the fan duct on the heat sink fan. 28. Go to "Completing the FRU replacement" on page 120. Chapter 8.
