(IN/OUT REC) menu Recording settings, input and output settings (HDV/DV SEL/DV REC MODE/TV TYPE, etc.) The default settings are marked with B. The indicators in parentheses appear when the items are selected. See page 54 for details on selecting menu items. Press MENU t select (IN/OUT REC) using V/v t press EXEC. HDV/DV SEL You can select the playback signal. Normally set to [AUTO]. When the VCR is connected to another device using an i.LINK cable, select the signal to input/output from the HDV/DV (i.LINK) interface. The selected signal is recorded or played back. B AUTO Switches the signals between the HDV and DV formats automatically when playing back a tape. During i.LINK connection, switches the signals between the HDV and DV formats automatically, and inputs/outputs from the HDV/DV (i.LINK) interface. HDV ( ) Plays back only the portions recorded in the HDV format. During i.LINK connection, inputs/outputs only the HDV formatted signals from the HDV/DV (i.LINK) interface. You can also select this when connecting the VCR to a computer, etc. DV ( ) Plays back only the portions recorded in the DV format. During i.LINK connection, inputs/outputs only the DV formatted signals from the HDV/DV (i.LINK) interface. You can also select this when connecting the VCR to a computer, etc. 56 b Notes • Disconnect the i.LINK cable before changing [HDV/DV SEL] setting. Otherwise, the connected video device may not be able to recognize the video signal from the VCR. • When [AUTO] is selected and the signal switches between the HDV and DV formats, the picture and sound are interrupted temporarily. • When [i.LINK CONV] is set to [ON], pictures are output as follows: - Setting to [AUTO], an HDV signal is converted to the DV format and output; a DV signal is output as it is. - Setting to [HDV], an HDV signal is converted to the DV format and output; a DV signal is not output. - Setting to [DV], a DV signal is output as it is; an HDV signal is not output. DV REC MODE (DV Recording mode) When recording a picture in the DV format, you can set the DV recording mode. B SP ( SP ) Records in the SP (Standard Play) mode on a cassette. LP ( LP ) Increases the recording time to 1.5 times the SP mode (Long Play). b Notes • If you record in the LP mode, a mosaic-like noise may appear or sound may be interrupted when you play back the tape on other VCRs or camcorders. • When you mix recordings in the SP mode and in the LP mode on one tape, the playback picture may be distorted or the time code may not be written properly between the scenes.
