Troubleshooting Troubleshooting If you run into any problems using your VCR, use the following table to troubleshoot the problem. If the problem persists, disconnect the power source and contact your Sony dealer. • Overall operations/Remote Commander 66 • Batteries/Power sources 66 • LCD screen 67 • Cassette tapes/"Memory Stick Duo" media 67 • Playback 68 • Recording 69 • Connecting to TV 70 • Dubbing/Editing/Connecting to other devices 70 • Connecting to a computer 71 Overall operations/Remote Commander The power does not turn on or abruptly turns off. • Attach a charged battery pack to the VCR (p. 13). • Use the AC Adaptor to connect to a wall outlet (wall socket) (p. 13). The VCR does not operate even when the power is set to on. • Disconnect the AC Adaptor from the wall outlet (wall socket) or remove the battery pack, then reconnect it after about 1 minute. • Press the {RESET} button (p. 90) using a sharp-pointed object. The VCR gets warm. • The VCR may get warmer while you use it. This is not a malfunction. The Remote Commander does not function. • Changing the [REMOTE CTRL] setting according to the Remote Commander (p. 64). • Remove any obstructions between the Remote Commander and the remote sensor. • Keep strong light sources, such as sunlight or overhead lighting, away from the remote sensor, otherwise the Remote Commander may not function properly. • Insert fresh batteries in the compartment with its +/- terminals matching those of the compartment (p. 93). The other VCR malfunctions when you use the Remote Commander. • Select a commander mode other than VTR2 for the VCR. • Cover the sensor of the other VCR with black paper. Batteries/Power sources The POWER/CHARGE lamp does not light while the battery pack is being charged. • Set the POWER switch to OFF (CHG) (p. 13). • Attach the battery pack to the VCR correctly (p. 13). • Connect the power cord (mains lead) to the wall outlet (wall socket) properly. • The battery charge is completed (p. 13). 66
