92 Learning the Basics Using the DVD-ROM or Multifunction drive Removing compact discs To remove a compact disc (CD or DVD) with the computer turned on: 1 Press the eject button on the drive. CAUTION: Do not press the eject button while the in-use indicator light is glowing. Doing so could damage the disc or the drive. Also, if the disc is still spinning when you open the disc tray, wait for it to stop spinning before you remove it. 2 Pull the tray until it is fully open, remove the disc, and place it in its protective cover. 3 Gently push the tray in to close it. To remove a compact disc with the computer turned off: 1 Insert a slender object, such as a straightened paper clip, into the manual eject hole. 2 Gently pull the tray out until it is fully open, remove the disc, and place it in its protective cover. 3 Gently push the tray in to close it. Caring for CDs or DVDs Discs ❖ Store your discs in their original containers to protect them from scratches and keep them clean. ❖ Do not bend a disc or place heavy objects on top of it. ❖ Do not apply a label to, or otherwise mar the surface of a disc. ❖ Hold a disc by its outside edge. Fingerprints on the surface can prevent the DVD-ROM drive or Multifunction drive from reading the data properly.

Removing compact discs
To remove a compact disc (CD or DVD) with the computer turned
on:

Press the eject button on the drive.
CAUTION: Do not press the eject button while the in-use
indicator light is glowing. Doing so could damage the disc
or the drive.
Also, if the disc is still spinning when you open the disc tray,
wait for it to stop spinning before you remove it.

Pull the tray until it is fully open, remove the disc, and place it
