Introduction Disclaimer (Battery Life) Battery life may vary considerably depending on product model, configuration, applications, power management settings and features utilized, as well as the natural performance variations produced by the design of individual components. Published battery life numbers are achieved on select models and configurations tested by Toshiba at the time of publication. Recharge time varies depending on usage. Battery may not charge while computer is consuming full power. After a period of time, the battery will lose its ability to perform at maximum capacity and will need to be replaced. This is normal for all batteries. To purchase a new battery pack, see the accessories information that shipped with your computer. RTC battery AC adaptor Disks Hard disk drive*4 The internal RTC battery backs up the Real Time Clock (RTC) and calendar. The AC adaptor provides power to the system and recharges the batteries when they are low. It comes with a detachable power cord. It encloses 2-pin or 3-pin plug type. Because it is universal, it can receive a range of AC voltage from 100 to 240 volts; however, the output current varies among different models. Using the wrong model can damage your computer. Refer to the AC adaptor section in Chapter 2, The Grand Tour. Available in two sizes. ■ 30.0 billion bytes (27.95 GB) ■ 60.0 billion bytes (55.89 GB) Disclaimer (HDD Drive Capacity) 1 Gigabyte (GB) means 1000 × 1000 × 1000 = 1,000,000,000 bytes using powers of 10. The computer operating system, however, reports storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of 1 GB = 1024 × 1024 × 1024 = 1,073,741,824 bytes, and therefore may show less storage capacity. Available storage capacity will also be less if the product includes one or more pre-installed operating systems, such as Microsoft Operating System and/or pre-installed software applications, or media content. Actual formatted capacity may vary. USB floppy disk drive Accommodates either 3 1/2" 1.44-megabyte or 720-kilobyte floppy disks. It connects to a USB port. Option or provided with some models.
