Server Access Removing the I/O Module Use the procedure in the preceding section, "Accessing the I/O Module," to install or replace hot-plug fans or hot-plug PCI/PCI-X expansion boards. To replace or service non-hot-plug components or problems in the I/O module, remove the module from the chassis: CAUTION: Do not attempt to remove the I/O module while power is applied to the system. The I/O module is not hot-pluggable. Immediate system shutdown and data loss will occur. 1. If the computer is on, back up your data and power down the server. Refer to Chapter 7. 2. Disconnect the power cords from the server. 3. If you are replacing an item, it may be necessary to remove all of the cables connected to the I/O expansion boards. 4. Loosen the cable management arm with the thumbscrew attached to the cable management arm bracket (1), and lift the cable management arm up to disconnect it (2). Rotate the arm out of the way. For clarity, the cable management arm is not shown in the figure. Figure 3-2: Disconnecting the cable management arm 3-4 HP ProLiant DL760 Generation 2 Server User Guide
