Flash shooting 2nd curtain (rear curtain) #SLOW2 The 2nd curtain fires just before the shutter closes. Changing the flash timing can create interesting effects in your picture, such as expressing the movement of a car by showing the tail-lights streaming backwards. The slower the shutter speed, the better the effects turn out. The slowest possible shutter speed depends on the shooting mode: M mode : 15 sec. (Bulb shot is also available.) P, A, S, m mode : 4 sec. When the shutter speed is set to 4 sec. 4 sec. 4 rear curtain 4 sec. 0 front curtain 2nd curtain flash fires 1st curtain flash fires Shutter closes Shutter fully opens 1st curtain with red-eye reduction H SLOW1 This mode is for when you want to use slow synchronization, yet also reduce the red-eye phenomenon. For instance, when shooting a person against a brightly lit night background. A normal flash might make the person's eyes red, but 1st curtain with red-eye reduction lets you capture the background correctly and reduce the red-eye phenomenon at the same time. 2nd curtain with red-eye reduction is not available.
