Installing the Server into a Rack Snap Server 4200/4500 Series Attaching Rear Rail Extenders to the Slide Rail Assemblies The rail extenders allow you to adjust the overall length of the slide rails to fit the distance between the front and rear posts on your rack. When attached to the slide rail assembly, the rear rail extenders are fixed, but you can make small adjustments to the position of the front rail extenders (which you attach in the next section). 1 Slide open the slide rail assembly to expose the rear screw holes. 2 Place the rear end of a slide rail assembly into a rail extender, as shown in the picture below. The inner mechanism of the slide rail assembly should be facing up. Slide open the assembly to expose the screw holes. 3 Align the screw holes in the slide rail assembly with the holes in the extender. 4 Insert 3 of the longer screws, with the screw heads on the inside of the assembly. 4 Field Service Documentation Copyright © 2007, Adaptec, Inc. Attaching Rear Rail Extenders to the Slide Rail Assemblies
The rail extenders allow you to adjust the overall length of the slide rails to fit the
distance between the front and rear posts on your rack. When attached to the slide
rail assembly, the rear rail extenders are fixed, but you can make small adjustments
to the position of the front rail extenders (which you attach in the next section).

Slide open the slide rail assembly to expose the rear screw holes.

Place the rear end of a slide rail assembly into a rail extender, as shown in the
picture below.
The inner mechanism of the slide rail assembly should be facing up.

Align the screw holes in the slide rail assembly with the holes in the extender.

Insert 3 of the longer screws, with the screw heads on the inside of the assembly.
