6.3 Troubleshooting Appendices Part 6 Symptoms The display remains blank when the power is turned on. The startup display remains on the display; the input display does not appear. The printer does not print, or does not print correctly. Cause The AC adapter is not connected properly. You are not using an AC adapter that is made for use with the printer. A cause other than the above. Bad input data. Action Turn the power switch off, and then make sure that the AC adapter is securely plugged into the power outlet and is connected to the main unit. Then turn the power back on. Use an AC adapter that is specifically intended for the printer. Using another AC adapter could result in circuit damage or overheating. The size of the printing media that was selected for printing does not match the size of the printing media that has actually been loaded in the printer. The print head is dirty. Tube cleaner is dirty. Tube cleaner is worn. The printing operation cannot be performed if no character data has been input. Either input character data, or else load a file and prepare character data. Confirm the size of the printing media that is loaded in the printer, and then select the same size. Refer to "Adjusting the printing start position and vertical position" (page 108) and make the correct settings. Detach the ribbon cassette, take up the slack, and then reinstall the ribbon cassette. Detach the attachment or the media cassette and then install it again. Cut off the misshaped portion and then install the media again. Use printing media that is not misshaped. Remove the dirt. Refer to "Cleaning the transport rollers" (page 138) and clean the transport rollers. Refer to "Cleaning the print head" (page 140) and clean the print head. Refer to "Cleaning/Replacing the tube cleaner for attachment" (page 140) and wipe the dirt with sponge. Replace with new cleaner. Contact your nearest dealer to purchase replacement tube cleaners. 147
