If you do not set any of the optional parameters (standard or extended), then both standard as well as extended attributes are sent. If you set either the standard or extended parameter, only the attribute that is specified is sent. neighbor shutdown Disable a BGP neighbor or peer group. Syntax neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-name} shutdown To enable a disabled neighbor or peer group, use the neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-name}no shutdown command. Parameters ip-address peer-group-name Enter the IP address of the neighbor in dotted decimal format. Enter the name of the peer group to disable or enable all routers within the peer group. Usage Information Peers that are enabled within a peer group are disabled when their peer group is disabled. The neighbor shutdown command terminates all BGP sessions on the BGP neighbor or BGP peer group. Use this command with caution as it terminates the specified BGP sessions. When a neighbor or peer group is shut down, use the show ip bgp summary command to confirm its status.
