Connecting Other Sources Connecting equipment with HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) terminals [To convert analog video signals to HDMI signals] • The AVR-3806 is equipped with a function for converting analog video signals into HDMI signals. You can do this by either a component or a video or a S-Video connection. • Audio signals are not output from the HDMI monitor output terminal, so also make analog or digital audio connections. To play sound using digital audio connections, assign the digital terminal (coaxial or optical) at "Setting the Digital In Assignment" ( page 63). S-Video and composite video outputs are also provided if your TV does not have component video inputs. • To connect the digital audio output from the TV, you can choose from either the coaxial or the optical connections. If you choose to use the coaxial or the optical connection, it needs to be assigned. For more information about Digital Input Assignment ( page 63).
