High-density A type of diskette format that allows you to store more data than on single- or double-density diskettes. A 5.25-inch, high-density diskette can store 1.2MB of data. A 3.5-inch, high-density diskette can store 1.44MB of data. IDE Integrated Drive Electronics. A type of hard disk drive interface in which the controller is located on the drive, instead of on a controller card. Your computer includes an interface on the main system board for up to two IDE hard disk drives. Input/output (l/O) port See Port. lnterface A physical or software connection used to transmit data between equipment or programs so they can work with each other. Jumper A small moveable plug that connects two pins on a device's circuit board. Jumpers can be used to alter the operation of a particular function. Key disk A diskette containing a copy-protected program that must remain in a diskette drive while you use the program. See also Copy-protected program.
