Media detection The model for media detection is essentially the same for all three trays.The paper sensor levers shown in the following figure detect the presence of media in the trays. The printer detects the media size by measuring the time from when the top-of-page sensor detects the leading edge of the page until the trailing edge of the page clears the sensor.
