Note CAUTION Printing on heavy paper and card stock q For optimum printer performance, do not use paper that is heavier than the maximum weights listed for the tray. Paper that is too heavy might cause misfeeds, stacking problems, jams, poor toner fusing, poor print quality, or excessive mechanical wear. For paper specifications, see "Selecting and using media" on page 77. q At the control panel, set the paper type to CARDSTOCK, and make sure to select Cardstock in the printer driver. Before loading card stock in a tray, make sure that the card stock is regular in shape and not damaged. Also, make sure that the sheets of card stock are not stuck together. The following table shows the minimum and maximum dimensions and maximum weight of media that can be used in each tray. Tray tray 1 Prints Maximum custom weight sizes Yes 220 g/m2 (58-lb bond) tray 2 Yes or tray 3 200 g/m2 (53-lb bond) tray 4 Yes 200 g/m2 (53-lb bond) Minimum and maximum dimensions The leading edge of the media that is feeding into the printer must be a minimum of 98 mm (3.9 inches) wide so that the rollers inside the printer can grab the paper, and a maximum of 306 mm (12 inches) wide. The overall length of the media must be a minimum of 191 mm (7.5 inches). The leading edge of the media that is feeding into the printer must be a minimum of 148 mm (5.8 inches) wide so that the rollers inside the printer can grab the paper, and a maximum of 297 mm (11.7 inches) wide. The overall length of the media must be a minimum of 210 mm (8.3 inches) and a maximum of 432 mm (17 inches). The leading edge of the media that is feeding into the printer must be a minimum of 182 mm (7.2 inches) wide so that the rollers inside the printer can grab the paper, and a maximum of 297 mm (11.7 inches) wide. The overall length of the media must be a minimum of 210 mm (8.3 inches) and a maximum of 432 mm (17 inches). Do not duplex paper that is heavier than 200 g/m2 (53-lb bond).
