3 Remove one of the cover plates. 4 Slide the EIO card or mass storage device into the opening until it stops. 5 Turn the printer on. 6 After you have installed a new device, print a configuration page. (See "Checking the printer configuration" on page 290 to print a configuration page.) 7 Use HP Web Jetadmin to manage fonts on a mass storage device; use LaserJet Utility on a Macintosh computer. 8 Use Web Jetadmin to configure and manage a network EIO card. Saving downloaded resources Utilities or jobs that you downloaded to the printer sometimes include resources (for example, fonts, macros, or patterns). Resources that are internally marked as permanent remain in the printer memory until you turn the printer off. If you do not have an optional hard disk or flash DIMM for storing downloaded resources, you might want to change the amount of memory allocated to each language when you download an unusually large number of fonts, or if the printer is in a shared environment. The minimum amount of memory that can be allocated to resource saving is 400 kilobytes (KB) each for PCL and PS. 212 Printer memory and expansion ENWW
