Chapter 4 Running DiagTools in the Text Mode (from the Utility Partition) SCSI Device Non Detected Troubleshooting If one or more SCSI device is not detected during the hardware inventory, check the following: • Rerun the test and observe the activity lights, if the SCSI device has them. No activity lights indicate a drive may not be responding. Replace the drive and rerun the test. • Check cables and termination to ensure they are correct. Refer to the documentation and the technical reference label or card which accompany the unit. • Check to ensure each device has a unique SCSI ID. • Find out if you have an unsupported SCSI controller. • Check to see your ASPI driver loaded. If you locate and correct a difficulty, rerun the DiagTools tests to verify your corrective action. 22

SCSI Device Non Detected Troubleshooting
If one or more SCSI device is not detected during the hardware inventory, check the following:
Rerun the test and observe the activity lights, if the SCSI device has them. No activity lights indicate
a drive may not be responding. Replace the drive and rerun the test.
Check cables and termination to ensure they are correct. Refer to the documentation and the
technical reference label or card which accompany the unit.
Check to ensure each device has a unique SCSI ID.
Find out if you have an unsupported SCSI controller.
Check to see your ASPI driver loaded.
If you locate and correct a difficulty, rerun the DiagTools tests to verify your corrective action.
