Viewing Inventory Reports Toptools collects information about the devices in your network and stores the information into MEDS through the Inventory Collection process. Once the inventory is collected, you may view the information in pre-configured inventory reports, or you may create your own reports. To access the reports, click the Inventory button in the Navigation Panel. The resulting options will include the ability to create a new report, view reports listed, or configure which reports are displayed in the drop down menu. The pre-configured reports offer selections to view your resources by device type, or specialized reports for PCs, Windows 2000, and Windows XP readiness. You may use a program like Microsoft Access to create your own reports. - NOTE - Do not attempt to access or modify MEDS directly. This will corrupt your toptools installation. Inventory Data Collection Inventory data collection performs inventory the first time you run discovery on a device, and then on a userconfigurable schedule. To configure the update schedule, click the Settings button in the Navigation Panel, and select Inventory Data Collection. This dialog will allow you to configure the frequency of collection, and on which management protocols you wish to collect inventory.
