Managing the Drivers/Firmware Version Database Toptools provides a complete solution for keeping your HP computing product hardware up-to-date with the latest drivers, BIOS, firmware and agent software packages. When you select a device within the Device Selector, you have the option to Manage Drivers/Firmware... which identifies the type and model of device you are managing, informs you of optional updates, and then offers to deploy it to the station... all through a simple wizard approach. To do this, toptools maintains a database of the software and firmware available for each device type. It maintains this database through updates from the HP website. It also keeps track of which packages have been downloaded to the toptools server. When you select a device, it runs a comparison of the device type against the information it has in the database. It then prompts you if you want to deploy the packages it has identified. If you say 'yes', and the package has not yet been downloaded from the HP website, it will download it for you. To maintain the database, click the Settings button and select Drivers/Firmware. This will display a page that allows you to update the local database from an HP website immediately or schedule regular automatic updates. You can select from various device type tabs to view software packages in the local toptools database available for downloading. 55

Managing the Drivers/Firmware Version Database
Toptools provides a complete solution for keeping your HP computing product hardware up-to-date with the latest
drivers, BIOS, firmware and agent software packages.
When you select a device within the Device Selector, you
have the option to
Manage Drivers/Firmware…
which identifies the type and model of device you are managing,
informs you of optional updates, and then offers to deploy it to the station… all through a simple wizard approach.
To do this, toptools maintains a database of the software and firmware available for each device type. It maintains
this database through updates from the HP website.
It also keeps track of which packages have been downloaded to
the toptools server.
When you select a device, it runs a comparison of the device type against the information it has
in the database.
It then prompts you if you want to deploy the packages it has identified.
If you say ‘yes’, and the
package has not yet been downloaded from the HP website, it will download it for you.
To maintain the database, click the
Settings
button and select
Drivers/Firmware
. This will display a page that
allows you to update the local database from an HP website immediately or schedule regular automatic updates.
You can select from various device type tabs to view software packages in the local toptools database available for
downloading.
