Problem Possible Solution No images are being displayed Be sure the documents you are scanning are placed properly in the input tray based on how your job is configured. For example, if your job is set up to scan documents one-sided - face down, be sure the side you want to scan is facing the input tray (not facing you). If you are unsure as to how the job is configured, contact your System Administrator. Roller marks appear on the document Clean the rollers. See the procedures in Chapter 10, Maintenance. after scanning Images have black background bleed- When scanning translucent documents, black bleed-through may be through displayed on the image. To minimize this, adjust the Contrast value on the Scan Settings screen. Red, green or blue streaks are running The Scan Station is dirty and needs to be cleaned. Refer to the "Cleaning through a color photo procedures" in Chapter 10, Maintenance. Image quality is poor or decreased Clean the Scan Station. Refer to the "Cleaning procedures" in Chapter 10, Maintenance. Network Authentication Issues Possible Solution The Scan Station 700 Series - Scanner Wake On LAN (WOL) is designed to work using a broadcast address, Administration application cannot thus it is more likely to work reliably when a Scan Station and the communicate with the Scan Station Scanner Administration application are on the same subnet. It can be when the Scan Station is powered up used across subnets but it will only work if the ARP tables in routers/ and is left idle for more than 15 minutes switches on the network still contain information about the Scan Station. then goes to into power saver mode. This information is volatile and the longer a Scan Station is in power saver mode, the less likely it will work. However, if the Scan Station is down for only a short time, quite often things will work fine. These limitations are not limited to Scan Station. This is a network infrastructure restriction. It is suggested that you assign a Static IP address to the Scan Station. Cannot receive incoming faxes even though the Scan Station is properly configured • Be sure you are connected to an analog phone line (not a digital phone line). • Verify the following: 1. Make sure the cable is plugged into the RJ11 port in the back of the Scan Station. 2. Be sure that the fax options are configured correctly for receiving faxes. For more information, see the section entitled, "Configuring Fax settings" in Chapter 4. Domain authentication Check the following to verify for correct connections in a network domain. These settings can be accessed by selecting the Configuration tab and selecting Edit>Device Settings. Check Device Options and click Next. Open the Network Destination Credentials option and verify the network Username, Password and Domain name. If these are not set correctly, the Scan Station will not be able to access the domain. Device name is not unique All Scan Stations have a default name assigned from the factory. The default name is: KSSxxxxxxxx (where xxxxxxxx represents the Scan Stations' serial number). This ensures that all Scan Station device names are unique. If you leave this option blank when you are configuring the Device Name, the Scan Station will continue to use the default factoryinstalled device name. If you want to change the default Device name, you must select a unique name. 11-2 A-61796 September 2014

Network Authentication Issues
Possible Solution
The Scan Station 700 Series - Scanner
Administration application cannot
communicate with the Scan Station
when the Scan Station is powered up
and is left idle for more than 15 minutes
then goes to into power saver mode.
Wake On LAN (WOL) is designed to work using a broadcast address,
thus it is more likely to work reliably when a Scan Station and the
Scanner Administration application are on the same subnet. It can be
used across subnets but it will only work if the ARP tables in routers/
switches on the network still contain information about the Scan Station.
This information is volatile and the longer a Scan Station is in power
saver mode, the less likely it will work. However, if the Scan Station is
down for only a short time, quite often things will work fine.
These limitations are not limited to Scan Station. This is a network
infrastructure restriction.
It is suggested that you assign a Static IP address to the Scan Station.
Cannot receive incoming faxes even
though the Scan Station is properly
configured
Be sure you are connected to an analog phone line (not a digital
phone line).
Verify the following:
1.
Make sure the cable is plugged into the RJ11 port in the back of the
Scan Station.
2.
Be sure that the fax options are configured correctly for receiving
faxes. For more information, see the section entitled, “Configuring
Fax settings” in Chapter 4.
Domain authentication
Check the following to verify for correct connections in a network
domain.
These settings can be accessed by selecting the Configuration tab and
selecting
Edit>Device Settings.
Check
Device Options
and click
Next.
Open the
Network Destination Credentials
option and verify the
network
Username
,
Password
and
Domain
name
.
If these are not set correctly, the Scan Station will not be able to access
the domain.
Device name is not unique
All Scan Stations have a default name assigned from the factory. The
default name is:
KSSxxxxxxxx
(where xxxxxxxx represents the Scan
Stations’ serial number). This ensures that all Scan Station device names
are unique. If you leave this option blank when you are configuring the
Device Name, the Scan Station will continue to use the default factory-
installed device name. If you want to change the default Device name,
you must select a
unique
name.
