4 Store the old microprocessor in a static-protective package. 5 Touch the static-protective package containing the new microprocessor to any unpainted metal surface in the computer, and then remove the new microprocessor. 6 Press in on the retainer tabs until they click into place. 7 Align the new microprocessor with the connector on the system board and slide it into the guides.
