To optimize performance when installing more than two hard disk drives, be sure to attach hard disk drives with faster data transfer speeds (Mode 1 or higher) to the primary hard disk drive signal cable (hard disk drives 0 and 1). On some models, to install more than one IDE hard disk drive, you must purchase an additional signal cable.
