The Basics of Shooting and Playback Preparation 2 Insert the Battery Removing the Battery Before opening the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover, turn the camera off (A23) and confirm that the power-on lamp and the monitor are off. To eject the battery, open the battery-chamber/ memory card slot cover and slide the orange battery latch in the direction shown (1). Then, remove the battery straight (2). B High Temperature Caution The camera, battery, and memory card may be hot immediately after using the camera. Observe caution when removing the battery or memory card. B Opening/Closing the Battery Chamber/Memory Card Slot-Cover Do not open and close the battery chamber/memory card slot-cover in a sandy or dusty environment or with wet hands. If the cover is closed without removing foreign particles, water may seep inside the camera or the camera may become damaged. • If foreign particles get inside the cover or camera, immediately remove them with a blower or brush. • If liquid such as water gets inside the cover or camera, immediately wipe it off with a soft and dry cloth. 19

Removing the Battery
Before opening the battery-chamber/memory card
slot cover, turn the camera off (

23) and confirm that
the power-on lamp and the monitor are off.
To eject the battery, open the battery-chamber/
memory card slot cover and slide the orange battery
latch in the direction shown (

). Then, remove the
battery straight (
