Changing the menu settings Icon/item Mode Meaning OTHERS DATA CODE z DATE/CAM To display date, time and various settings during (On the Remote playback when you press DATA CODE on the Commander) Remote Commander (p. 40) DATE To display date and time during playback when you press DATA CODE on the Remote Commander AREA SET -- Temporarily change the area where you are using your camcorder DST SET* z OFF Not during daylight saving time ON During daylight saving time BEEP z MELODY To output the melody when you start/stop recording or when an unusual condition occurs on your camcorder NORMAL To output the beep instead of the melody OFF To cancel melody, the beep sound and shutter sound COMMANDER z ON To activate the Remote Commander supplied with your camcorder OFF To deactivate the Remote Commander to avoid remote control misoperation caused by other VCR's remote control DISPLAY z LCD To show the display on the LCD screen and in the viewfinder V-OUT/LCD To show the display on the TV screen, LCD screen and in the viewfinder POWER switch * Instead of DST, SUMMERTIME appears on the screen for some models. Note If you press DISPLAY/BATT INFO with DISPLAY set to V-OUT/LCD in the menu settings, the picture from a TV or VCR will not appear on the LCD screen even when your camcorder is connected to the output jacks on the TV or VCR.
