9. Servicing the AV System Vibration-damping springs and buffers are used for the connection between the handlebar, tank housing and engine housing. Damaged springs and buffers must always be replaced. 9.1 Buffer on Oil Tank - Remove the handlebar, b 9.7 The peg's head (arrow) must locate properly on the buffer. - Reassemble all other parts in the reverse sequence. 9.2 AV Spring on Oil Tank The antivibration spring is at the forward end of the oil tank and is secured to the underside of the machine. - Remove the handlebar, b 9.7 - Reassemble all other parts in the reverse sequence. 9.3 AV Spring on Fuel Tank - Remove AV spring from handlebar, b 9.4 - Remove the stop buffer, b 9.6 1 4903RA144 TG 1 : Pull off the buffer (1). Installing 2 0001RA177 TG 2 1 : Unscrew the AV spring (1). - Unscrew the bearing plug (2). 0001RA179 TG 2 : Take out the screw (1). : Lower the tank housing (2). 1 0001RA051 TG 1 0001RA176 TG - Use STIHL press fluid to simplify assembly, b 14 : Push the buffer (2) onto the peg (1) on the handlebar as far as stop. 1 2 : Screw home the bearing plug (1) as far as stop. : Screw the AV spring (2) into the handlebar (arrow) as far as stop. 0001RA206 TG : Pry out the AV spring (1). Buffer on Oil Tank
Remove the handlebar,

Pull off the buffer (1).
Installing
Use STIHL press fluid to simplify
assembly,

Push the buffer (2) onto the
peg (1) on the handlebar as far
as stop.

The peg's head (arrow) must locate
properly on the buffer.
Reassemble all other parts in the
reverse sequence.
9.2
AV Spring on Oil Tank
The antivibration spring is at the
forward end of the oil tank and is
secured to the underside of the
machine.
Remove the handlebar,

Unscrew the AV spring (1).
Unscrew the bearing plug (2).
:
Screw home the bearing plug (1)
as far as stop.
:
Screw the AV spring (2) into the
handlebar (arrow) as far as stop.

AV Spring on Fuel Tank
Remove AV spring from
handlebar,

Remove the stop buffer,

Take out the screw (1).

Lower the tank housing (2).

Pry out the AV spring (1).
