Chapter 2: Connecting your TV Using the TV remote and HDMI® CEC Control to control other devices To control the basic functions of connected audio/video devices using the TV's remote control, connect a HDMI® CEC Control compatible audio receiver or playback device. The HDMI® CEC Control feature uses CEC technology as regulated by the HDMI standard. Before controlling the devices: • For an explanation of setup and operations, see "Using HDMI® CEC Control" ( page 40). • Configure the connected devices. See each device's operation manual. Note: This feature is limited to models incorporating Toshiba's HDMI® CEC Control feature. However, Toshiba is not liable for those operations. See the individual instruction manuals for compatibility information. When using an external AV amplifier: The picture and sound may not be properly synchronized. In this case, adjust the delay time of the sound on the AV amplifier. Note: The control range of the delay time differs according to the device you use. Connecting an HDMI audio system If your HDMI amplifier supports ARC, audio from the TV can be sent to the amplifier via an existing HDMI cable. HDMI's ARC (Audio Return Channel) feature This feature enables the audio signal of the TV to be sent to an AV amplifier via the HDMI cable. It will not be necessary to connect a cable from the audio output of the TV to the audio input of the AV amplifier to reproduce the audio received from the tuner of the TV through the AV amplifier. 19

Note:

HDMI’s ARC (Audio Return Channel) feature
This feature enables the audio signal of
the TV to be sent to an AV amplifier via
the HDMI cable. It will not be necessary
to connect a cable from the audio output
of the TV to the audio input of the AV
amplifier to reproduce the audio received
from the tuner of the TV through the AV
amplifier.
Note:
Only HDMI 1 supports ARC.
