SCE0559 SCE0560 WARNING Always follow the instructions below. Failure to do so could result in damage to the charging system and cause personal injury. 1. Remove the battery cover and the engine compartment cover. To remove the engine compartment cover, unhook the clips as illustrated. 2. If the booster battery is in another veA A hicle k, position the two vehicles (k B and k ) to bring their batteries into close proximity to each other. Do not allow the two vehicles to touch. 3. Apply parking brake. Move the selector lever to P (Park). Switch off all unnecessary electrical systems (light, heater, air conditioner, etc.). 4. Remove vent caps on the battery (if so equipped). Cover the battery with a C firmly wrung out moist cloth k to reduce explosion hazard. 5. Connect jumper cables in the se1 2 3 quence as illustrated (k → k → k 4 → k ). If the battery is disconnected or discharged, the steering wheel will lock and cannot be turned. Supply power using jumper cables before pushing the ignition switch and disengaging the steering lock. In case of emergency 6-9
