D, Supported RAID Types

Page 138 highlights

D Supported RAID Types RAID is an acronym for Redundant Array of Independent Disks. The goal of RAID is to provide better performance and reliability from combinations of disk drives than possible with the same total storage space without RAID. When creating RAIDs, select drives of equal capacity and performance. Otherwise, the RAID tends to be limited in capacity and performance to that of the smallest and slowest drive. The Adaptec 2410SA controller supports up to four drives and supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 10, spanned volume, and simple volume. These array types are described below. In addition to RAID capability, the Adaptec 2410SA controller supports a simple volume configuration, which consists of a single drive that is not part of an array. Such a drive is automatically configured as a simple volume. The controller supports up to four simple volumes. D-1

Supported RAID Types
RAID is an acronym for Redundant Array of Independent Disks.
The goal of RAID is to provide better performance and reliability
from combinations of disk drives than possible with the same total
storage space without RAID.
When creating RAIDs, select drives of equal capacity and
performance. Otherwise, the RAID tends to be limited in capacity
and performance to that of the smallest and slowest drive.
The Adaptec 2410SA controller supports up to four drives and
supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 10, spanned volume, and simple
volume. These array types are described below.
In addition to RAID capability, the Adaptec 2410SA controller
supports a simple volume configuration, which consists of a single
drive that is

part of an array. Such a drive is automatically
configured as a simple volume. The controller supports up to four
simple volumes.
