Note: You can configure each individual channel on the controller using this property, which specifies the device ID number of the controller on the channel. Initializing Drives By default, when you use playback mode to create arrays, the ACU initializes only those drives specified by the Drives property keyword in the script file. It performs this initialization step before creating any new arrays. For example, consider a script file that defines the following new arrays: I RAID 1 with drives=0:0:0, 0:1:0 I RAID 5 with drives=0:1:0, 0:2:0, 0:3:0 As a result of executing this script file, the ACU initializes all drives comprising the two arrays before creating any arrays. Any other drives connected to the controller are not affected. Initializing a drive automatically deletes any existing arrays with that drive as their member. For example, if you specify drive 0:0:0 in an array's Drives property and that drive happens to be part of a RAID 0 (stripe) array, the ACU deletes the stripe array when it initializes the drive. Note that existing arrays with drive members that are not specified in any Drives property within the script are not affected. In some cases, you might want the ACU to initialize all drives connected to the controller, even those that are not specified in a script's Drives property. This ensures that all drives are initialized and any existing arrays are deleted before any new arrays are created. You can specify InitializeAll=Yes within any array definition to instruct the ACU to perform this task. Unlike most array properties, the InitializeAll=Yes property is a global ACU setting and does not apply only to the array whose definition it appears in. Thus, you need only specify InitializeAll=Yes once within any array definition to produce the desired action. B-21
