C DC MOTOR TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE Start Press the treadle slightly forward. Set the control box switches: • Needle position-needle (low- er) • Correction-none • Slow start-none • Set the maximum speed VA fully counterclockwise. Does the machine operate at low speed? Yes Return the treadle to neutral. Set all switches in the operation box to OFF. Set the machine's thread wiper swtich to OFF. Set the treadle to neutral. Set the power switch to ON. Can a clear brake sound ("click") be heard? Yes Does the machine stop? Yes Set the speed adjustment control fully clockwise (maximum speed). Gradually depress the treadle forward until it's completely depressed. Does the machine speed increase in accordance with the amount the treadle # 1 is depressed? Yes Return the treadle to neutral. Is the control box lamp illuminated? Yes Is the operation box lamp illuminated? Yes Has the machine stopped? Yes Does the brake # 2 function during deceleration? Does the needle (lower) stop? Yes Repeat the treadle forward depression and return to neutral steps. # 3 Is there any variance in the Yes needle (lower) stopping position?
